The Arctis 5 headset we used is the original 2016 version, not the current 2019 revision. The newer revision adds extra ear cushioning, offers a couple EQ updates (and DTS Surround X 2.0, although the legacy Arctis 5 also received this via a software update), and has minor aesthetic changes. We welcome these updates, but they don't change our overall verdict on the headset. Apologies for the confusion!

Spend an extra $30 and pick up the Logitech g733 Got them recently and really enjoy them. Mic is good, audio fidelity is much better than expected, bass is a bit muddy but still good.

I still got my MSI Ds501’s from the first one and they still work good! After the time length I recommend them, just get a separate microphone if you need a good microphone

I own the Corsair HS70 Bluetooth Headset and that audio bug where you get white noise is in those as well. IDK why it does that. I went out and bought the Corsair Virtuoso Headset for like 160 buck and i don't get that audio issue. But yeah, it happened a lot for me. At least like once a week. Sometimes twice. It must be something with Corsair's HS series of headsets.

Beanie used during a headphone review.... Even purely B-roll, still not good. Shows a lack of professional discernment. "If you have larger ears..." (B-roll ears completely covered by a thick beanie) I basically learned these examples are not good for gaming by any means.

I've noticed woth my blackshark v2, the pop filter helps a lot with the harsh tinniness of the mic as well as the tuning for the mic in synapse

the stealth 600s are good on xbox i use them and it’s not as bad as he makes them sound

steelseries headsets suffer a major flaw due to the driver software i had 2 sets and both did this to me they occationaly swap channels left becomes right and visaversa the only way to swap them back is to unplug them and plug them back in

I bought a headset back in January. The headset cord is now going bad. Hopefully they will replace it. The headset was only 28$ but it should last longer than 3-4 months.

I would recommend the Sennheiser Game One. These are actual Sennheiser headphones they slapped a mic on. They're open back and have a great sound quality for a rather cheap gaming headset. They are also very comfortable and light, but still robust.

I have some iTeknic IK-BH002 that were given to me as a present by my sister, but I have that same problem, where if I try to use the microphone on the headset, it only has an option to use it as hands free, and if I dont change the audio output from bluetoth stereo to hands free it just stops working the sound, and as you can guess the hands free audio output is so bad that it looks like you are listening trough a 1980s fix phone speaker. I wish I could see better what you did to configure those headphones to use microphone to, at 5:56 , just to see if I can do the same with mine.

I have the cheaper version of the razer headset, razer blackshark v2 X, and the mic is way better on mine! Absolute steal at around $60! Was just supposed to be a temporary headset, but im going to keep them. Super comfy, and excellent positional audio.

Best gaming head(phones), cheapest to most expensive in a reasonable budget: Philips SHP9500, ATH-AD700X, DT990pro, AKG K712. All have pros and cons. Get a modmic or a desktop mic and enjoy being able to actually hear shit.

I was waiting for the disclaimer at the end advising to not buy any "Gaming" headset because they are all built like shit and the MIC is always garbage. Buying a gaming headset is like buying a single-use kitchen appliance. Total waste of money in 95% of cases. Spend your money better by buying a sub $100 audio grade set of headphones with a separate MIC which there are plenty to pick from on the cheap both to plug directly into the headset 3.5mm jack, attach via magnet or a table MIC. At least this way you can use the headphones for more than just games, instead listen to some music or watch movies with and you'll get sound that isn't ass.
